Four Mile Sampler

Choose your own adventure! With this field trip, you can pick 3-5 activities for a custom prairie experience (pick 6 for groups of 100 or more). One-room schoolhouse lessons, daily farm chores, cooking over an open fire, panning for gold, making butter…and more!

Cherry Creek Traveler

Children will experience the adventures and hardships of covered wagon life in the 1860s. Classrooms will travel as a “family group” of travelers to five activity stations. As the families encounter each activity, they will need to work together to complete the activity and continue their journey to the West.

Field Trips at Four Mile

All programs are designed to meet select Colorado Academic Standards. Contact the education department for more information.

Schedule your program in a snap! Here’s how:

  1. Begin by narrowing down the dates that work best for your classroom schedule (The Park is open for field trips Monday-Thursday). At least a two-week notice is required to ensure 4MHP staff availability.

  2. Select a Program Option (Wagon Wheels only available in the last two weeks of April and all of May)

  3. For our Four Mile Sampler program, choose activities to take you on your journey through the American West.

  4. Submit a Field Trip Request form or call 720-865-0814

For on-site programs, Four Mile Historic Park requires a 1:10 ratio of adults to students; these adults, as well as any providing one-on-one support to a student with disabilities, are free. Any additional chaperones will be charged the same amount as the students.

Four Mile field trips are self-guided. Four Mile staff will assist in any fire-related activities.

Staff-led programs available for an extra $100, limited to groups of 60 or fewer. A minimum charge of $80 is required for small groups.

Please check your spam folders if you do not receive a reply to your field trip request, as some email domains block Four Mile emails. If you do not receive a response within 24 hours, please email education@fourmilepark.org directly.

*A 5% Processing Fee is included for all credit card transactions*

Please note that Four Mile Historic Park is no longer booking field trips and other education programs on Fridays.

Bring Four Mile to Your Classroom!

Daily Life on a 1859 Homestead

What was it like to live on a farm in 1859, the year the Four Mile House was built? With the Homestead Trunk, your students will be able to compare the ways of the 2020’s to a much different era of washboards, candle-makers, buffalo chips, and much more.
